overview

Discover the Hollywood North Beach Park Tidal Flood Resiliency and Mitigation Project, a community-focused initiative in partnership with Broward County. This project aims to enhance resilience, reduce flood risks, and improve the beauty and sustainability of Hollywood North Beach Park. Explore design renderings and stay updated on plans for enhanced features—including seawalls, living shorelines, and upgraded recreation areas—designed to enrich the Hollywood Shoreline and Intracoastal Waterway.

Project Summary

The Hollywood North Beach Park Tidal Flood Resiliency and Mitigation Project aims to reinforce sections of the park along the eastern Intracoastal Waterway shoreline by installing seawalls or limestone boulder riprap embankments to address current and future flooding, including areas near State Road A1A. Shoreline elevations will be raised to exceed the projected 50-year intermediate-high tide level, as specified by Rule 62S-7.012 of the Florida Administrative Code. Additionally, the project will introduce living shorelines with intertidal zones for mangroves and seagrass mitigation areas to balance natural resource impacts.

Broward County Parks and Recreation manages five pocket park sites west of State Road A1A, featuring amenities like parking, picnic areas, boardwalks, and restrooms. Loggerhead Park, the southernmost site, includes a planned mooring facility. While these parks may need adjustments to accommodate mitigation efforts, any redesign will prioritize recreational spaces, preserve picnic areas, and create interconnected pathways that engage with the natural environment.
